Samsung's second-quarter profit increased by 53%, but its chip inventory was almost exhausted
According to a CBNC report, Samsung Electronics said that despite the decline in smartphone sales, due to rising chip prices and strong market demand for chips, operating profit in the second quarter increased by 53%, exceeding market expectations. Preliminary statistics have increased by 33% over the first quarter. This data reflects the soaring demand for chips in the market. The world's largest manufacturer of memory chips and smartphones said that its profit for the quarter ended June 30 is expected to be 12.5 trillion won ($11 billion). If this is true, this will be the largest profit for the tech giant in the second quarter since 2018.
Some analysts said: Due to the strong price of mobile DRAM memory chips and the strong demand for the display business, the profit in the third quarter is expected to be higher. In the second quarter, the profit of Samsung's chip division may increase by one-fifth or more over the same period last year, thanks to strong memory chip prices and consumer electronics and data center customer demand.
